Borders and Bindings



You have finished your quilt – now what?

Have you wanted to learn how to measure and attach borders without ripples?

How do you make bindings?

How to sew a mitered corner on a binding?

How to sew bindings by machine? Or hand?

 

This is a technique class and you will go home with samples and written instruction for: straight borders, attaching and finishing bindings.

Borders and Bindings Supply Sheet

 

Supplies:

  • 18” quilt sandwich: Front, batting and backing; trimmed squarely and quilted. Quilting can be simple grid or straight lines. If unsure how to square up, please have quilted and will demo in class.
  • Two width of fabric strips cut 2 ½” wide (for binding)
  • 12” square or leftover quilt block
  • One width of fabric strip cut 3” (for borders)
  • Basic sewing supplies including pins, ripper, rotary cutter and ruler, matching thread
  • Sewing machine with ¼” foot and walking foot or even feed option
  • You are welcome to bring a finished project to work on the binding.

Building Entry

  • You will enter the building through the Main Entrance and find us at the top of a short staircase.
    Handicapped accessible parking and entrance with an elevator to the second floor is at the south side (left hand side as you face the front of the building) of the building.
