River Crossing - A Unique Jelly Roll Project



Description: This one-session class will show you how to sew 2 ½ strips together and cut and arrange for a creative and fun way to make quilt blocks.

Pattern: provided in class.

Materials

  • Fabric  

o   1 Jelly Roll OR cut your own collection of 40 (2 ½” ) strips for this project. 

o   If you choose to cut your own, include dark, medium dark, medium, medium light and light fabrics. It’s important to have a variety of colors and shades to accent the block patterns.

o   Sashing and Inner Border: ¾ yard

o   Coordinating Fabrics for Cornerstones, Outer Border and Binding: 2 ¼ yards

o   Backing fabric - 4 ½ yards

 

Sewing Supplies and Tools for this Project

  • Sewing machine, ¼” foot or walking foot. (Using a walking foot would be beneficial, as you will be working with bias edges.)
  • Rotary cutter, cutting ruler - 3” X 24”  (Cutting mats are in the classroom)
  • Small scissors, seam ripper, quilting clips or stick pins. 
  • Thread that coordinates with the project fabric.
